Hi. I saw your post on the Z-cube list. I can give you some tips about the Skyline GTR.

Hi there, yeah, that would be great. I can't figure out how to work that car. It's insane how tough it is. I was wiping the walls when I was using the Corvette, but the Skyline is killing me. Pretty much how do you not lose a ton of speed when you're cornering, and how do I use the weapons? And I always lose control during the turbodrive and go shooting off into space.

It's a tough car to handle. Most players won't even try it.

>Pretty much how do you not lose a ton of speed when you're cornering, and how do I use the weapons?

Hit the B button at the same time as the A button and you'll hang onto the curves like you're on rails. The weapons--well, you're just better off not needing to use them, but luckily the car is solid enough that most of the time you can avoid needing them.

>And I always lose control during the turbodrive and go shooting off into space.

Yep. Been there, done that. Don't try to use the turbodrive unless you can see you've got about a mile of absolutely straight road in front of you. Even if you've got to swerve to avoid the other cars during a turbodrive you might run out of road in a hurry.

How far have you gotten with the Skyline-GTR? It's stupid for me to give you pointers if you're further in than I am. I've gotten to track twelve.

I know, but I knew someone who used to drive one for real, and that was a sweet car. I kind of wanted to get good at it because of him.

OMG! My karate teacher said the same thing to me about every weapon.

Track twelve!?! I only ever got to track two once, and that was a fluke. How much time do you spend playing this game? Have you gotten out into the sunlight lately?

Really? I drove a Skyline in the past, and it *is* a sweet car. You accelerate in it and it feels like the car's going to take you to the moon, but it's so smooth when it shifts that half the time your passengers never even realize you're not in first gear anymore, and then you're on the highway... The motor has a distinct sound to it, and I've never heard anything like it.

Did you get to ride in it? Did it have a turbocharger and a custom intake manifold? How about a limited slip differential? Extra venting to the front brake rotors? They need that. How about the transaxle internals? To achieve higher power, I had to open the ports for increased flow at high rpm, and the camshaft timing and lifts were increased. I'd done a few modifications on mine that got it about 450 horsepower, but don't tell the cops that. I got it up to about 155 mph once on a highway in the middle of the night. Needed to pay about ten thousand dollars in bribes to the police to keep the car afterward, too!

>>The weapons--well, you're just better off not needing to use them

It's true. The best weapon is not needing to use one.

So you emailed me asking for help, and you're criticizing me for giving it to you? Bite me.

Awesome!

My friend said that too. Is it like in the owner's manual?

>Did you get to ride in it?
Yeah, but not often. It's a shame.

[jibberish deleted for my sanity]

Damned if I even know what you're talking about. It was fast.

HAH! I bet I don't need to, though.

That's so funny. I bet they probably followed you everywhere afterward too, hoping to pick up some more.

>It's true. The best weapon is not needing to use one.

Yeah, but the world sucks, and because of things like Gallactor we need weapons.

Sorry! Geez, don't be so sensitive. I never met anyone who got above level eight. It was supposed to be a compliment. Either you're like a VMT-hyperdrive god or else you never leave your mommy's basement.

No, it's something they hypnotize into you when you buy the car.

It is. You should have pestered him for a ride. He'd probably have loved to show it off.

I hope Gallactor is just GONE by now, but they're saying it's not. It sucks.

Actually, if you really want to know, I got shot up like a swiss cheese by Gallactor soldiers, and I'm typing this from a hospital bed. I'd much rather be outside doing ANYTHING rather than playing VMT-Hyperdrive and getting smart-mouthed by net geeks.

Did you have any other questions, or did you only want to be snarky?

Robotman,

I'm sorry. I hope you're not still mad at me, because you're right that I was just shooting off my mouth and being a smartass again. I shouldn't have said you were like some troll living in your mom's basement or that you should get off the computer. I didn't realize you had gotten hurt by Gallactor, and I have to tell you, if you were a soldier, you have all my respect. You guys were out on the front lines knowing how hard it was to fight those guys, and I'm sure you saw more people die around you than you'd like to think about.

How bad did you get hurt? When do they think you'll be getting out of the hospital?

My big brother was a soldier, and he died. It was right at the end of the war, too, and I miss him so much. It's been over three months, but nothing is the same. It truly stinks that someone could be gone just because a bunch of idiots want to be out there doing things they shouldn't be, hurting people without even caring.

And then I hurt you, but I do care, and I'm sorry. Even if you don't write to me again, please just don't be mad at me. I'm not worth it.

Don't worry about it, kiddo. I'd just gotten some bad news, and I wasn't in the mood to deal with you.

Death is one of those things you just accept when you're on the front lines. And I thought I was prepared to die too. I just wasn't prepared for THIS.

>How bad did you get hurt? When do they think you'll be getting out of the hospital?

I'm not sure I'm ever going to get out of the hospital. I've got shrapnel fragments in my spine and in my head, and I wasn't in all that good shape beforehand, either. I can't walk. I can barely type. I'm tired all the time, and they've got me on four different medications that are supposed to help, but I think they only give me side-effects. I hate this. I wish Dr. Raf had just left me on the field to die, but no, they're all about experimental treatment this and long-term therapy that, and every time I think I should just roll this wheel chair off the balcony into the sea, one of Dr. Raf's past patients comes along and gives me a little pep-talk like things are just going to get better and I've still got a purpose in this life and whatnot. "You've still got a job to do," they always say, and I'm thinking, "Like what, a doorstop?"

So Dr. Raf came to me yesterday and said they're going to amputate things and give me transplants, and I'm not happy about this at all.

And then after that I got your email saying I should get out more, and it was the last straw. Sorry.

>My big brother was a soldier, and he died. It was right at the end of the war, too, and I miss him so >much.
That sucks. I'm sorry to hear that.

And probably they didn't even stand to gain from it. Gallactors are a bunch of losers and prison-rejects and kindergarten drop-outs.

Here, to show you I'm not really mad, try this when you're playing VMT-Hyperdrive next time: pull up the gatling gun, but don't fire it. Then go into turbocharged mode, and when you're passing the other cars, fire the gun AFTER you've passed them, ideally when you're only just in front of them. That's got to be the best part of the Skyline-GTR, and if you can master it, you'll be on level 12 and growing fungus in your own mother's basement before you know it.

Well, I wasn't prepared to lose my brother. It's not the same, but maybe we can hate Gallactor together.

Aw, man, that's awful!

It sounds like it stinks. Can't they get out the shrapnel?

You made me laugh, but that's rough. You know, there's plenty of things you can do in a wheelchair. It's not like it's the end of the world. And I asked, and they said they're doing great stuff with transplants and artificial limbs and things, so maybe it'll be okay.

>>My big brother was a soldier, and he died. It was right at the end of the war, too, and I miss him so >>much.
>That sucks. I'm sorry to hear that.

Thanks. It was his Skyline-GTR I used to ride in, so I'm kind of playing the game because it reminds me of him, but then when I couldn't even get past track one without bombing, it felt like I'd failed him once more, you know? I couldn't keep him from dying, and I couldn't even drive a virtual form of his car.

>And probably they didn't even stand to gain from it. Gallactors are a bunch of losers and prison-rejects >and kindergarten drop-outs.

Hah! And they couldn't find their butt with both hands and a searchlight! And a map!

WAHOO!!! I tried that, and everything went all asplodey!!! Thank you so much! I can't wait to show Aniki! He's going to spit his beer out his nose when he sees what I can do!

Thanks, and thanks for not being mad at me anymore. I hope you feel better.

Here's a screencap of what the track looked like after I tried your trick against my big brother. He was PISSED! You should have seen him. And then Oneechan wouldn't let him run up any more beer on his bar tab, so he's even more mad.

Yeah. It's a surprise every time that they didn't stand up to fire the gun and shoot themselves.
