An interesting take... a 'normal' situation for 'normal people', but something Joe is quite unused to. It just brings home his inability to be 'normal', whether he wants to or not.

Of course, now I'm wondering what's been happening at home while he's been gone. Surely everyone is wondering where he is...

You forgot the annoying bugs, heat so bad you can't stand it (with your clothes sticking, running out of water to drink...), people laughing at you while they drive by, the cell phone signal wavering so that only every , Sandra resorting to writing on Joe's leg and arm, trying to get into his backpack to see what is there....
