A couple of weeks ago, in my Psych 101 class, we covered a chapter on neuroscience & the brain and I immediately thought of Joe, his head injury, and what is medically accurate and artistic license in his story. So I had to come back and re-read this after many years. Science has come further on the brain and TBI since this was originally written, so it would also be kind of interesting to see if any of the new data and science that has been discovered between the time that this was originally written and now (February 2015) would change this.
Interesting stuff. :)
