Oh my... fantastic! :D
Author's Response: Shows you what a healthy imagination and a dose of Star Trek will do to me... ;)

I love this look at how our Eagle, in his late teens, could be so clueless AND uninterested in all physical affections until BAM, Princess goes into heat and drives him into rut. I kept waiting for them to actually get it on right in the middle of a Spectran base, and Zoltar watching the footage going to his men, "No, no, don't interrupt, this is good ..."
Ah Cronous, a man we all do love to hate. I love that Anderson was so very pleased in the end.
Author's Response:
Well, sort of... they *almost* got it on in the middle of an abandoned Spectran base... *grin*
Naturally I was watching Star Trek when I got the idea for this 'Pon Far' type storyline, and the fact that Mark is an 'alien' made it that much more plausible. But it does explain his total disinterest...

Yet another reason to hate the Rat Bastard. He makes a great punching bag, what? :P :)
I swear, Colonel Cronus and Kentaro Washio make GoS's Red Impulse look positively warm and fluffy.
It does explain a lot of potential 'behind the scenes' stuff. And it's so sweet. I also like the blurb about humans not responding to Rigan women's bonding phase, but Spectrans do, explaining why Tiny's not reacting. You are so good at the 'scientific' explanations! ;p
I do feel sorry for Rigan women. It would seem until they bond and finish the Jitana, they have no freedom -and precious little afterwards. And unlike some Earthbound societies, they have an actual biological reinforcement for it, ensuring that they can't ever get rid of it. *winces at potential disaster*
I'm not a Trekkie, but I did see the Voyager episode where -Tuvoc, I think? Been awhile. Anyway, where Tuvoc uses a holodeck to call up an image of his wife to satisfy Pon Far's demands -in full ritual form, apparently. (Meanwhile, of course, there's full-scale trouble going on elsewhere.)
I can see Cronus using 'connections' to arrange a mate for his son? And did it ever occur to Cronus that just maybe Mark's and Princess's bonding may have gone too far to be interrupted. Probably not, considering his self-centered bigoted misogynic attitude. (His own mouth condemns him. "Mongrel" indeed!)
The exchanges between Anderson and Cronus through the fic are hilarious. And I really like it when Anderson has Cronus over a barrel. Serves the little bugger right! And Anderson's going to keep Cronus from any more shenanigans. YAY!!
You are still one of the best writers!
Author's Response:
And you know, this was totally just an excuse to write a bunch of Mark/Princess smut.. the plot came later! ROTFL!
From reading these other reviews, I can see you know that the original idea came from Pon Farr, but yeah, it was fun to think about how Rigan society would have evolved from that major biological difference. I'd like to think that Rigan women were allowed much more freedom once they had mated. And there's the good side too, where there are no affairs or divorce, or people worrying about their spouses cheating on them. But then, there would have to be occasional loveless marriages like Cronus', when a partner died young.
You've probably guessed that RI is a character I love to loathe, and this is one fic where that spilled over to Cronus. He just makes such a great villain at times... it's difficult not to go overboard! EVen in BOTP he has too pompous an attitude for my liking. I'm not familiar enough with GOS to comment on his version there, but I *almost* lie the Eagle Riders version (Harley Harris). At least that man didn't beat up his son, never hid his identity, and actually said 'I love you' when he was about to die. But look at me go on...
Hope amongst all of that, you enjoyed the smut too!

As always, you have done an awesome job. I love how you were able to weave your story in with BotP canon. As always, I enjoyed the story.
Author's Response: I usually try to make my fics consistent with canon, so that when people watch the eps they think that this stuff COULD be happening behind the scenes. I'm glad you thought it worked!

This full of innuendos and the right kind of tension!!!! I like the way you are showing the confusion in the emotions that are coming to life....I can't wait to read more...
Author's Response: Ah, but far more than innuendoes once we get into it...

A wonderful story. I love the way that you can take an idea from BOTP and make it deeper and more detailed. The backstory for Princess is perfect, as is your explanation of Rigan culture and physiology. Cronus here is a classic villain, thwarting two young lovers, and the romance between Princess and Mark was both sexy and sweet -a Valentines Day treat.
Author's Response: I'm laughing that you say that this is a Valentine's treat, since it was submitted as part of the Gatchamania Valentine's Challenge! ;-)

Interesting and vivid. Oh boy is Mark going to be mad when he wakes up!
Once again you have shown that you have thought about the cultures of the planets involved and provided us a glimps of how different these cultures are. I like the background. I hope there is more to come as I am having a hard time figuring out how Cronus planned a marriage for a son he has not even acknowledged in may years, at least on Earth.
Not to be picky - but well when I like something....Thom Cronus? A confusing name choice if you ask me. Tom is Mark's friend from the Academy.
Curious to know how this all comes out in the end. :D
Author's Response:
I completely forgot about Tom being Mark's friend from the Academy! I was just trying to come up with an 'exotic' name that didn't sound completely 'human'. I came caross the name 'Thom awhile ago and it seemed to fit Cronus, so i've used it in a few of my fics. It was sort of familiar, but sort of not, which fit the bill. Ah well, he's stuck with it now. *grin*
I'll let you in on a little secret about the 'culture' aspect... I'm a big Star Trek fan and this entire fic was based on the idea of the Vulcan Pon Far. Since Mark is technically an 'alien', the idea seemed too good to pass up! You'll notice I bypassed the 'every 7 years part! But the rest of the 'Rigan Society' came from there. Plus it allowed me to explain why a loser like Cronus actually got married in the first place! Can you tell I'm not a RI/Cronus fan? ;-)

Oh baby...you've outdone yourself! I don't know which fic is hotter, this one or Inhibitions??? Either way, this fic is incredible, baybee! *smoochies*
