I don't know why I hadn't read this before now, but I wish I had. This is great. You have Penske to a tee. That was cool. Poor Jason. How hard it must be to put you dream on indefinite hold for a cause no less than world freedom. Hope he gets his chance on day.
You really need to do a sequel. You know, open-wheel racing has a lot more opertunity for substitute drivers. Maybe there's hope yet. Just a thought
Author's Response: Hi Garnet. I've been working on a sequel that involves the Indy 500, but its slow going. I'm hoping going back for the race will inspire me to finish it.

I've always enjoyed this fic as a glimpse into Jason's racing life that feels so authentic, and for seeing Jason learn that a happy ending, his dream, is still waiting for him despite the sacrifices he has to make.
Author's Response: I'm glad you liked it Ib. I've got the idea for a sequel, just haven't had the time to write it.

I really liked this piece, Becky. For a short, you packed a lot of punch. First, I felt my stomach drop when I thought that Jason would have to turn down a place on the team and then my stomach lurched again when I realized that Penske had seen through Jason's cover. Great job!
Author's Response: Thanks. I don't watch NASCAR that often and found the race so boring this was the result. Maybe I should watch it more often.
