Blood Line series note by Becky Rock

I thought it might be a good idea to explain the Blood Line series.

Once upon a time in a place far, far, away....called college, I wrote a series of books about a young man who was half alien and half vampire, born and raised amongst humans on a human colony planet called Sparta. My character, Jesse Colins, was caught in the middle of disputes between the humans and paranormals of Sparta and the humans and aliens. The books were about his trials and tribulations.

I tried publishing them back the early 80's, but vampires, let alone vampire/alien combinations, weren't in then, so I put them away. Guess I was ahead of my time.

I did some rewriting and treid again in the mid 90s, but still no go.

With the emergence of the paranormal genre, I rewrote some more and tried publsihing the first book, Daywalker, again in 2005. They were still leary of the alien part, so I had no luck.

A little fed up, I then took a different tactic.  I decided to rewrite Daywalker as a BotP story, crossing it over with Laurell K. Hamilton's Anita Blake Vampire Hunter series and post it in Gatchfanfic. Thus, Blood Line was born. Parts of Blood Line are verbatim from Daywalker, other parts are extra or changed quite a bit to accommodate the BotP storyline.

I've been studying the publishing industry and feel, with the difficulties of getting an agent unless you either have proven publishing success or know someone, I feel self-publishing is going to be the wave of the future. I decided in 2007 to self-publish Daywalker and it was actually published in November 2007. At this time, it is only available on-line on Amazon, B&N, and many other on-line sources. If you're interested in checking it out, I have a website at www.rebeccarock.org.

I have continued rewriting parts of the other books in the series to the Blood Line version and have added original parts and will continue to post them here. I am in the process of having the next two books in the Daywalker series edited in preperation for publication, whether by traditional publishing or self-publishing.

So, I hope you enjoy the Blood Line series and if you have any questions or comments about it or Daywalker, just let me know.
