A series of fics all set in my own AU, a place where interstellar flight is a new discovery for Earth, where G-Force are the pinnacle of a huge organisation set up to fight the war against Spectra rather than being our only hope, and where the really silly science bits have been retconned to the best of my ability :)

Some of the facts are non-canon, and some of the fics mostly feature original characters, or canon characters doing non-canon things (those are the ones flagged as Tenuously Canon). I'd like to think that the spirit isn't too far off the original.

Summary:

These fics are the result of a challenge suggested by Unpublished Writer, namely to take one of the 20 Gatchaman episodes that were never used in Battle of the Planets and rewrite it to be a BOTP episode. I selected the Gatchaman episode #102, "A Reversal! Checkmate X!" but the two dream sequences are from another unused Gatchaman episode, #78 "Mortal Combat! 10,000 Meters Under the Sea." Battle of the Planets episodes sometimes used footage from more than one Gatchaman episode, so I figured I could do it too.

I've since done follow-up fics, "BOTPizing" the Gatchaman episode #103, "G-2 Risks Death," and episode #104, "The Evil Grand Black Hole Operation," and episode #105, "Earth's Destruction 0002.".

Episode continuity wasn't stressed so much in Battle of the Planets, but I'm not claiming that these could be actual BOTP episodes –the plots got a little too weird for that and there's very likely still too much that's violent or disturbing for BOTP. However, I've discovered it's not so easy to try to take existing footage, cut out what's unsuitable (ie. violence), come up with new dialogue that matches the speakers in the remaining footage, and then create "filler" to replace the footage that was cut. I have a much greater appreciation now for what the BOTP writers accomplished!

Summary:
