What Jun hadn’t counted on was hundreds of green-suited goons being in the hangar. She needed a distraction.

Jun rewired circuits in a nearby panel, changing power and controls and initiated her sequence of instructions. She wasn’t entirely sure it would work.

As planned, the largest plane in the hangar fired a missile directly into the mass of troops.

But Jun hadn’t planned on secondary detonations. Heavy artillery was stored around the hangar. The initial explosion set off one compartment, and then others, causing the entire base to ignite in a violent reaction a few seconds after the blast.

Jun threw herself to the floor as the hangar door exploded, raining shards of glass in all directions. She stood up, cutting her feet, staring at what was left of the hangar, intense heat baking her face, and scorching her throat as she breathed.

Granny grabbed the Condor around the neck and held him in an iron grip, oblivious to his flailing attempts to get free.

“My, you’re such a big boy now! Why I remember when you used to run around my house without a stitch on. You were such a naughty boy… but you had such a cute, little tushie!”

With that she pinched Joe’s bottom.

Ken opened the car door and sat in the driver’s seat, turning the key in the ignition. Nothing. He tried again. No response.

He slammed the car door shut in frustration and walked to the bus stop. A few raindrops splashed onto his jacket.

By the time he got there it had turned into a steady shower. He arrived just in time to see the bus driving away. Great. Now he had to wait for the next one. Checking the time, he realized that he was going to have to hustle to make the meeting on schedule.

Sixty minutes later, a soaking wet Eagle walked up to the security booth at ISO Headquarters and was granted admission. His shoes squelching in the hallway, he made his way to Nambu’s office.

Everyone else was already there. As he surveyed his team, he saw Ryu inhaling the last of the donuts.

This was not turning out to be a good day.
